Our main objective is to help inform LCMS members of the urgent need for larger enrollment of young men in the seminaries. To achieve this we encourage more prayers for seminaries and seminarians during church services and frequently, otherwise, by individual members. As the needs and approach are introduced to a reasonable number of members within a congregation it is likely a small nucleus of members will be identified to serve as Gabriel’s Messengers. (GMs) Soon after the GMs thoroughly describe the seminaries present financial crisis, positive responses will likely follow. These can take the form of establishment of line items in church budgets as well as direct contributions to seminaries by individuals. Methods are described and forms needed are downloadable on this website. Among the youth and young men the GMs will encourage consideration of careers as church workers, including pastors.
Regarding contributions, the suggested giving–rate threshold should make for larger participation than normally follows without such a guideline. With passage of time and intermittent reminders, the number of involved members will grow and once involved there will be a tendency to increase amounts as circumstance permit and they are moved by the Lord to do so. We all have a stake in the matter!! And the Challenge is H-U-G-E!!! It is a local equivalent to the Mountain in Matthew 17:20: “ - - - - I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to the mountain,’ Move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”.
